Entry Requirements

Admission is limited to students aged 18+ with minimum English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 (overall band) or equivalent; minimum Australian Year 12 Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (or foreign equivalent), and either a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from an ICT Training Package or equivalent full-time workplace experience in context to this course’s units of competency.

Prior to commencement, students intending to travel to Australia must secure a student visa or temporary graduate visa. Where you have a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and visa but cannot travel to Australia, the course may commence online.

You will submit a pre-training assessment review to assess if the course is appropriate for your interests and abilities, plus an LLN to determine learner needs.

Additional Information

Course Delivery

This course is usually delivered via face to face training, online and independent study. The college has adjusted its delivery because of COVID-19.

Students are provided with required texts and course materials online.

The sequencing of delivery includes:

  • Reading course texts (online) and other learning materials
  • Attending face to face classes
  • Attending to online quizzes and case studies
  • Applying learning in contexts outside of the classroom
  • Online forums for questions and information

RPL & Credit Transfer

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT)

All students are provided with the opportunity to have their prior learning and experience assessed against current standards and gain recognition for this. (Recognition of Prior Learning -RPL).

Students who have successfully completed whole units of competency included in this course can apply for Credit.

RPL assessment attracts a fee for assessment of each unit.

 

Assessments

Assessment will take place in the student’s own time.All assessment activities will be conducted by Capital college Assessors.

Assessment methods include:

  • Assessment tasks/ projects
  • Questioning/quizzes
  • Presentations

Assessment tasks are provided online via the College’s LMS with corresponding rubrics for clarity of requirements. Assessors will discuss the assessment requirements prior to attempting each task.

Assessments employ a variety of theoretical and practical tasks to assess competency. Students are provided with assessment tasks online with corresponding rubrics for clarity of requirements.

 

What to Study Next?

Students awarded this qualification may articulate to a Bachelor’s degree in technology with our Higher Education partners. Ongoing training in technology microCredentials and industry-recognised certification with the Australian Computer Society is available to Capital College students.

Upon successful completion of the 16 units of competency in this course, students will be issued the ICT60220 - Advanced Diploma of Information Technology qualification.

If a student does not complete the full qualification but has successfully achieved units, a Statement of Attainment will be issued, indicating the units completed. Graduates may be eligible for credit towards a university and/or guaranteed entry to a top Australian University.
